1950S STYLE TELEVISION SET,
PLAYING "CLASSIC SUSPENSE"

ADDRENE RIZEN

It’s October 20th, 1957 and you are just settling down to watch your favourite television show. Alfred Hitchcock is ready to thrill you yet again with another episode. This week’s show is called "The Perfect Crime", starring Vincent Price

It is time to sit back and enjoy!

In this workshop you will be constructing a television replica inspired by the Viking Console, (Canada, 1952). This stylish console was one of the earliest sets sold by Eaton's, and was developed by Electrohome in Kitchener, Ontario. The set's production and acceptance by these two well-established Canadian businesses signalled the arrival of television in the average Canadian home.

The focus will be on mitre cuts and trim details with fine wood. Although it will go together quickly, the more time the student puts into sanding (ultra fine) the greater affect on the outcome.

The 'player' can be loaded with a mystery thriller, 30 minutes of "Classic Suspense" and the hardwood television console can be finished in a number of custom style options to suit.
